Short answer: No — you only need to buy Koala once per Google account.
If you purchased Koala Sampler on Google Play using a particular Google account, that purchase is tied to that account and will transfer to any Android device where you’re signed into the same Google account.
If your tablet is asking you to purchase Koala again, it usually means the Play Store is using a different account or hasn’t synced your purchase info yet.
Common Reasons This Happens & How to Fix It
1. You’re Signed Into Multiple Google Accounts
Android often defaults to the wrong Play Store account.
How to fix:
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap your profile icon (top-right)
- Switch to the same Google account you used to buy Koala
- Reopen Koala’s page — it should now show Install, not Buy
2. Play Store Cache Needs Refreshing
Sometimes Google Play doesn’t sync purchase info immediately.
How to fix:
- Go to Settings → Apps → Google Play Store → Storage
- Tap Clear Cache (don’t clear data)
- Restart the device
- Check Koala’s page again
3. Koala Was Bought on a Different Google Account
It’s easy to mix up personal, work, or old accounts.
How to fix:
Verify which Google account was active on your phone when you originally purchased Koala.
4. Using Google Play Family Library
Koala normally supports Family Library, but it must be enabled.
How to fix:
Make sure Family Library is turned on and Koala is included in your family sharing settings.
PLEASE NOTE: Google does not support in-app purchases in Family Library, so Samurai/mixer/sample packs etc cannot be shared with it - don’t shoot the messenger, shoot google, its their rule.
Still Being Asked to Buy It Again?
If none of the above helps, it’s almost always an account mismatch.
Google Play Support can confirm which account your Koala purchase belongs to - once you sign into that account on your tablet, the app will install without charging you again.
